Who controls your data

Sougna is the controller of personal data collected through the platform. For any question or request about your data, contact privacy@sougna.com.

What we collect

  • Account details: your display name, mobile number, email if you provide one, and city.
  • Ad content: the text, photographs, prices and location details you upload.
  • Messages: your conversations with other users inside the platform.
  • Usage data: pages you visit, your searches and filters, and your device, browser and IP address.
  • Payment data: when you buy a listing or a promotion, card details are handled by the payment provider directly and we do not store your card number.

We will never ask for your bank password or a verification code sent to you. Anyone who does is defrauding you.

Why we collect it

  • To run your account, publish your ads and deliver your messages.
  • To show ads relevant to your search and to order results.
  • To detect fraud, duplicate and non-compliant ads, and to protect users.
  • To take payment for paid listings and issue invoices.
  • To meet our legal obligations and respond to requests from the competent authorities.

Who we share it with

What you put in an ad is public: its title, description, photographs, price, city, district and your display name. Your mobile number is shown only when a buyer chooses to reveal it from the ad page.

We also share data with:

  • Service providers who operate the platform on our behalf — hosting, image storage, SMS delivery and payment processing — and only as far as their work requires.
  • Government and judicial authorities where there is a lawful request.

We do not sell your personal data.

Where data is kept

Personal data is held with an accredited cloud provider. Where an operational need requires transferring it between countries, that happens only in the cases the applicable data-protection law permits, and after checking that the receiving party offers an adequate level of protection.

How long we keep it

  • Account details: for as long as the account is open.
  • Expired or deleted ads: hidden immediately, and erased within 90 days.
  • Conversations: for 24 months after the last message, so reports and disputes can be handled.
  • Invoice and payment records: for the period tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you the following rights:

  • To be informed how your data is collected and why.
  • To access your data and obtain a copy of it.
  • To have your data corrected, completed or updated.
  • To have your data destroyed once it is no longer needed.
  • To withdraw your consent to processing at any time.

To exercise any of these, write to privacy@sougna.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country — the UAE Data Office in the UAE, or SDAIA in Saudi Arabia.

Deleting your account removes your ads from view immediately. We may keep the minimum necessary to prevent abuse and to meet legal obligations.

Children

The platform is not intended for anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, it is closed and its data deleted.
